The short answer

Sticking doors, worn hardware, rekeys, and secure closes that latch cleanly the first time.

What is in scope

What this service actually includes

A door that won't latch, drags on the frame, or needs a shoulder to close is a daily annoyance and sometimes a security problem. We adjust, repair, and re-hang doors and replace worn hardware so they open and lock the way they should.

What this covers

  • Re-hanging and adjusting sagging or sticking interior and exterior doors
  • Resetting strike plates and hinges so the latch catches on the first close
  • Replacing worn knobs, levers, deadbolts, and closers
  • Rekeying and matching locks so one key works where it should
  • Weather-stripping and sweep replacement on exterior doors

What we'll refer out

  • We don't cut new keys on site, rekeys are done with fresh hardware or a locksmith partner
  • Automatic gate and full garage-door mechanisms are referred out
  • Safe and high-security commercial systems are outside our scope
How we do it

Step by step, so you know what happens

A clear sequence so there are no surprises on the job, and nothing skipped to save time.

Find the real cause

A sticking door is usually a hinge, a swollen jamb, or a settled frame, we diagnose which before touching it.

Adjust the fit

We shim hinges, reset the strike, or plane the edge so the door swings and closes freely.

Replace worn hardware

Tired knobs, deadbolts, and closers get swapped for hardware that actually holds.

Test the close

We cycle the door dozens of times to confirm it latches and locks cleanly every time.

What this looks like in a real home

A representative project. Photos are honest placeholders until we have real ones from this job.

Kitchen ceiling after an upstairs bathroom leak

Acton Single-family Water damage 2 days
Before
After

Plumber had already stopped the leak upstairs. We opened the stained section, confirmed the framing was dry, patched, skim-coated, primed, and repainted the full ceiling so there was no visible seam.

Every job is scoped in person and quoted before work starts, no surprise line items, no “while we were in there.”

Questions

Common questions about doors & locks

My door won't latch unless I lift it, can you fix that?
Yes. That's almost always a sagging hinge or a strike plate that's drifted out of alignment. We reset the geometry so the latch lines up and catches on a normal close.
Can you rekey my locks so they all use one key?
In most cases, yes, either by rekeying compatible cylinders or replacing hardware with a matched set. We'll tell you which approach your doors need.
Do you handle exterior doors and weather-stripping?
We do. Drafty or hard-to-close exterior doors often just need adjustment plus fresh weather-stripping and a new sweep, which we replace as part of the visit.
